Those who visited Phoenixville this past weekend witnessed the town being crowded with blues fans. Reeves Park in Phoenixville hosted its Third Annual Blues Festival this past Saturday. The all day festival included nationally recognized blues artists, as well as little-known local musicians. Different musical acts played from 1:00 p.m. all the way up until 10:00 p.m. that evening.
Fun activities were available for the whole family, including crafts and entertainers. The event was free, due to generous donations from various sponsors. However, pvilleblues.org,
the event’s web-site, asked attendees to donate a canned good, which will go to local citizens.
Youth from the Steel City Blues Society, a nonprofit organization, were also present and performed at the festival. The society is meant to help keep the tradition of blues music alive for future generations. The organization helps to achieve that wish by raising money for The Give the Gift of Music Foundation, which helps provide children from lower income families in Phoenixville with music lessons.
The Phoenixville Blues Festival not only serves as a fun day out with the family, but as a way to keep the music alive. Make sure not to miss it next year!
